Back to Berlin...

.  Aside from the fact that I visited the LifePlus event on Saturday, I also took part in a seminar led by a great guy:  Mr. Todd Burrier, a very inspiring and funny guy.  It was all about getting out there to spread the news of a way to keep you “out” of the doctor’s office, in other words staying healthy.  It seems that although we have the best doctors, the best medicine and the best hospitals in history, people just aren’t getting and staying healthy.  In fact, never before in the history of mankind have so many people contracted so many severe diseases at an ever increasing younger age!  Not exactly what we would expect, right?  So what can we do?  Well we could get back to the basics (vitamins, minerals and nutrients) and learn about nutrition—plenty of books our there to do the trick.  Yes, it is somewhat time consuming, but important.  That’s the nice thing out the company;  LifePlus.  They kind of do the work for you.  They make sure their products are of the highest quality possible so that we get the basics that our bodies need to stay healthy.  Preventive medicine makes so much sense, when you really stop to think about it.  But how often do we stop and think about staying healthy?  As so often in life, when everything runs smoothly, no one complains.  Yet let the washer break down or the car or the heating in the house and everyone panics.  The same with your body, right?  Well that’s where vitamins, minerals and nutrients come in.  They keep our body running smoothly.  Oh my, here I go ramblin’ on.  Time to stop for today.

Beauty from within....

Now you are probably wondering what the scoop is about HA.  Well I did some searching and found the following website (www.hamiracle.com) that really explains everything quite nicely.  According to the website, “about 50% of the HA in our body is found in the skin”.  HA is also “ a key component of the cartilage surrounding and protecting your joints”!  The company LifePlus incorporates HA in its “Forever Young Skin Formula”.  Beauty from within is far better than just dabbing some cream under your eyes.  Don’t get me wrong, creams are great at hydrating and nourishing from the outside, but nourishment from within adds a big “plus” to not only your skin but also keeps your joints lubricated and helps keeps your eyes healthy.  I've got some great  “before” and “after” pictures from ladies who went on the "Forever Young Skin Formula" trip, feel free to contact me if you're interested in viewing them and I will email you!

Berlin Event...

This past weekend, I was in Berlin!  What a city!  My reason for traveling the some 270 odd miles (one way) was a LifePlus event.  All together we were about 3000 happy smiling faces celebrating the 20th birthday of this fantastic company.  We all “cuddled” into a huge meeting room at the Hotel Estrel.  The hotel itself is worth a visit.  But more important was that we got a chance to visit and hear from the founding fathers of LifePlus.  Mr Bob Lemon is such a warm and cheerful guy (in the office he has been nicknamed “Papa Bear”) that you can’t help but feel like you’ve found a friend for life!  I’ve included a short 3 min video so that you can get to know him a little bit too!

A"Ha" Effect...

Hey Ladies, I think it’s safe to say that as we mature we wouldn’t mind retaining our youthful look and energy!  I mean minimizing “crow’s feet” for example would be cool right?  Well, there are about a zillion creams etc out there all promising just that.  But you know what?  About a year ago I got to know more about something called “hyaluronic acid” or HA for short.  This HA is a fantastic substance that –now get this—we all have cruising around in our body anyway.  The only problem (yea, I know, there always seems to be a catch) as I was saying, the only problem is that over time our body produces less and less and less of HA—hence the wrinkles.  HA is responsible for keeping our skin young and healthy (in other words, wrinkle free!)  Want to know more?  Drop me an email or check back next week Monday, for another “Apple a Day” post! (Grin)

If you Love a Child...

I received an email from a fantastic guy.  Mr Todd Burrier is a down-to-earth kind of person who is well informed on “staying healthy” or preventive medicine.  The email he sent I would like to share with you today.  Read it and be sure to pass it on!  It’s IMPORTANT!

Posted: 19 Apr 2012 07:09 AM PDT by Todd Burrier
The Pharmaceutical industry sees children as a “Growth Industry.”
How does that make you feel? I can only speak for myself, but this make my blood boil! In the past few weeks I did a little research, and in comparison to whats available it was only a little…but the findings were astounding and disgusting. Children are the fastest growing segment of the medication industry. One expert predicts that today’s children could live 10 years less than the parents!
This is unacceptable. This link http://lifeplususa.adobeconnect.com/p70rxuo2v14/ will take you to a short webinar where I share some of the statistics and causes of what is going on. I encourage you…no I implore you to watch it and then pass it on to others. We need to create awareness about this. In the coming month Dr. Laura Ruby will be blogging regularly on this topic (www.drlauraruby.com). We cannot put our head in the sand on this, we have to stand up and help to make changes and this starts with awareness. Please forward this.

Taking care ...

Ok  let’s get real.  Life is great and we enjoy a lot of things.  But we often tend to forget or perhaps overlook the obvious.  Taking care of ourselves and by that I mean, yea there are a lot of different aspects we could look at.  But the one we most often neglect and abuse is our body!  I mean, our body is a wonderful machine that seems to just run and run to the point that we tend to take it for granted.  Yet, just like any machine, it needs maintenance.  There’s a great short video that Todd Burrier did explaining it quite well. Please check it out. (only takes 3 mins!)

The First Step

Why is it that we often sit back and wait, instead of taking our lives into our own hands by taking action.  Well for one, we all like to be comfortable.  It makes us feel relaxed and secure and warm and—well—comfy.  It just feels good, but does it really do us any good?  Maybe for awhile, but the truth is we’re always comfortable with that which we “know”.  Or maybe you could say:  “Same old, same old”!  So it’s time to take some action to improve yourself and your life.  Because only by taking action and breaking out of your comfort zone, do you have the chance of improving your life.  Yes it’s uncomfortable but in a very positive sense.  So go into action and take that first step.  A little step is fine, because one little step after another adds up to success.  It’s that first step that’s the hardest.  But as Nike puts it:  “Just Do It”!

What are "Greens"

In another post I talked about what “greens” are and are not.  But still walk into a grocery store and try asking for “greens”.  The sales person will most likely point you to the produce section.  And ask for specific greens like “lamb’s quarters” and you will end up in the meat section.  So what we need to understand is that “greens” are not vegetables!  Wow—now that’s what I always thought “greens” were.  So if they aren’t vegetables than what are they, you’re thinking right now.  Well have you ever bought a fresh bunch of carrots with the “tops” still attached?  Yep! you guessed it, the carrot tops (that what we usually throw away) those are the “greens” we’re looking for!  The green leaves of carrots, beets and turnips, parsley are more nutrition than the root itself.  There’s a great 17 minute video which demonstrates exactly how powerful greens can be.  They just might prove to be the most important 17 minutes of your life! If you’re interested click here.

Setting Goals....

How often have you heard someone say that to get ahead in Life you gotta set some goals!  Well I think my Dad told me that quite often.  Have I done it?  Not in so many words.  Why is it that such important things, we put them off by telling ourselves, “I’ll do that later” or “I don’t have any time right now--maybe tomorrow.”  The problem is tomorrow comes and goes and it’s still on our “To-Do-List”.  So the clue is action.  We need goals to make sure we stay on course.  I mean, how many people do you know, get into their car without knowing where they want to go?  I can’t think of one.  And yet, we usually haven’t got a clue as to where we are going in Life.  Like, how will we know when we get there, if we don’t even know what the goal is?  Makes sense, doesn’t it.  But until we sit down and put it in writing, we won’t know where we are going or how to get there.  hmmm…I think I need to sit down right now and put my destinations (goals) down on paper…..grin!

Health Kick...get going

So here I am still experimenting with recipes.  I really do love a banana, an apple, some grapes or an orange plus greens (spinach or Romaine lettuce) and, of course, filtered water about 2 cups.  If I feel like it I throw in a handful of nuts, to add some crunch.  The great thing about these green smoothies, is that it keeps in the fridge for at least 2-3 days.  So it’s not as if you have to drink a gallon of these smoothies immediately.  According to Victoria Boutenko, (Green for Life book author) you will most likely notice results almost immediately.  After about 1 month of drinking green smoothies daily, other people will probably start to take notice of your increased energy and overall healthy look.  Well I guess I will continue experimenting and drinking my green smoothies. (grin!)

Drinking our greens...

Last week I talked about “greens” and what they are.  This week I’d like to share how to get at the good stuff found in the leafy stuff!  Victoria Boutenko author of “Green for Life” states that the nutrients in a plant are stored in the plants cells.  Plants cellulose, what mainly makes a plant, has “one of the strongest molecular structures on the planet” (p 24, “Green for Life”).  And because Greens contain more “valuable nutrients that any other food group” means we need to eat MORE Greens! (Oh boy, I knew Popeye had something going for him!)  But due to the fact that cellulose has such a strong molecular structure the only way to get to these important nutrients is by rupturing the cell walls!  Usually this is done when we chew our food.  Yet rarely do we chew our food to the creamy consistency needed to cash in on the benefits!  This is where smoothies come in!  Mixing our greens in a blender along with some fruit etc breaks down the cellulose in the greens and at the same time releasing the beneficial nutrients.  And voila!  A green smoothie is born!  So now we drink our greens, what a revolutionary idea!

Tuesday Mornings

I still out in the garden—whew—we had some trees cut down last fall and now I am back trying to plant new shrubs and ground covering.  But before I plant, I have to dig up the old roots!  Man what a job!  I never knew trees had THAT many roots.  And they are all at least as 1 ½ inches thick!  So it’s grab-your-saw time and start sawing away.  But first, I have to dig, dig, dig to get at those thick roots hiding below.  And the quick planting job suddenly turns into an all day affair. (You wanta get done, you know!)  Well the next morning I was afraid to move for fear of feeling like I had run into a brick wall.  But I was surprised!  Even though I knew I had over done it, I didn’t hear my muscles yelling „abuse“ at me.  I must be doing something right, I thought!  Like giving my body a daily dose of Joint Formula by LifePlus!  It sure does pay to give your body the minerals and vitamins it needs on a daily basis!

An Apple a Day.....

I’ve been reading the book “Green for Life” by Victoria Boutenko and among other things she states that the more she “read about the nutritional content of greens, the more [she] became convinced that greens were the most important food for humans” (excerpt page 24).  So eating more greens is the way to go.  But what exactly is meant by “greens”?  Usually people mean leafy green vegetables like cabbage, radish greens, collard greens, spinach and mustard greens – often related to the mustard plant as they are all high in minerals.  Lettuce, arugula and bok choy are not “greens”.   Well I guess I'm off to the store to get me some greens--smile!

Tuesday Mornings

Today I finally got my act together and gathered my gardening equipment to venture out into the „jungle“ (which is what my yard resembles after its winter sleep).  But the sun was warming and the sky was a baby blue making the job at hand pleasurable.  Really, I do like to get my hands working the flower beds and I love seeing how the flowers are beginning to push through the dirt to poke their heads out.  In fact its kind of therapeutic.  Helping my plants grow, helps me grow too.  I concentrate on the work at hand and am able to let go of some thoughts that tend to bug me.  Although...I have to admit...about halfway through, when the mountains of dead leaves and twigs etc are heaped in piles all over the lawn, I tend to ask myself what possessed me to start this job.  But I know that if I just push forward and continue, that the rewards are great:  Pretty flowers!

An Apple a Day...

I am busy experimenting with this green smoothie stuff.  I ordered the book on green smoothies and the reading is fascinating.  I am hoping that it will help me get “healthy”!  I did find another link to the original website:  where it all began!  Click here to check it out!  The benefits are said to great.  hmmm  Today is day 2 of my smoothie journey.  I am still trying to get the perfect quick recipe.  Once I find it I will be sure to post it for everyone to use.

Friday's Buzz

On being a parent...
This past Christmas I read a book called „ Finding Noel“ by Richard Paul Evans.  Besides being a great book, there are a couple of passages that really stuck out.  One of those passages I would like to share today!

„...and one day I had this epiphany.  I realized that being a parent was like being the Wizard of Oz.
„What do you mean?“
„You know the part when Dorothy and her friends go to see the Wizard?  This big, ominous head talks to them and they’re all terrified.  Then her dog...Toto pulls back the curtain and there’s a little man behind it pulling levers and throwing switches. And he says ... ‚Ignore the man behind the curtain.’ I think that being a parent is like being the man behind the curtain.  We pretend that we know what we’re doing—that we’re omnipotent and all-knowing—when the truth is we’re just back behind the curtain throwing levers and switches, doing the best we can.““

This really hit home with me because that is exactly how I sometimes felt:  throwing levers and switches and just doing the best I could with the strength and knowledge I had at the time.  Then what happens when the kids grow up?  As stated in the passage:  „And then our kids find out that we’re not as great as they thought we were?“  „Exactly.“

I guess that is just part of parenting and growing wise.  (smile…)

Tuesday Mornings

The „joy“ of excercising
Okay, I am 55 years young and excercising it not exactly my most favorite thing to do.  In fact, getting myself the fitness center is sometimes easier said than done.  Yet, to be honest once I am there I’m glad I made the effort, because I feel Our bodies weren’t made to sit and sit and sit in front of computer or behind the wheel of a car all day.  Our bodies need movement.  Yeah, I know, you get plenty of movement running after kids all day or just taking care of everyday life.  But believe me, getting yourself to a gym for a workout, you may just discover some muscles you never knew existed! (Grin)

An Apple a Day......

Taking the time to take care of ME!
Harder said than done!  Know what I mean?  Here we are constantly taking care of everyone else, yet when it comes to us—what happens?  Right! Not much.  We are either too busy...too tired...or too something-or-other.  But when it comes right down to it:  „Me“ is important.  And it’s important that we pay more attention to the „ME“ inside.  Even little things like not standing at the sink doing dishes and simultaneously trying to „enjoy“ a cup of coffee.  I mean, get real!  Are we really THAT busy?  I think we need to sit down and let those 10 minutes of enjoyment wash over us. Those 10 minutes just might save my sanity.  And lets face, it a little more enjoyment in the day benefits not only myself but everyone around me too.  And that makes Life so much better!  Hey get out there and enjoy that well deserved break!  Have a great day!

Friday's Buzz

There’s a favorite quote of mine that goes like this:

„Shoot for the moon.  Even if you miss, you’ll land among the stars.“  Brian Littrell

It always reminds me that even when things aren't going the way I thought they would, I shouldn't give up because I just might bump into a star!  And that might not be so bad after all!  So many people give up, when if they would only continue their success would be inevitable.  This also has something to do with believing in yourself!  If YOU don't believe in yourself, why should anyone else?  Make sure you always remind yourself that you are better than think you are.  Successful people are just that:  people.  In other words, they are no different that you and I.  The only way they differ is in the way they think!  They think success!  they believe in themselves!  So remember this:  NEVER….Ever….sell yourself short!

Tuesday Morning's

I stumbled across this many years ago.  Unfortunately I don't know who wrote it to properly give credit.  Other than that, I thought it worth posting.  Enjoy!

"They were watching TV when she said, "I'm tired, and it's getting late. I think I'll go to bed."

She went to the kitchen to make sandwiches for the next day's lunches, rinsed out the supper dishes, took meat out of the freezer for dinner the following evening, checked the cereal box levels, filled the sugar container, put spoons and bowls on the table and filled the coffee pot for brewing the next morning.

She then put some wet clothes into the dryer, put a load of clothes into the wash, ironed a shirt and secured a loose button. She picked up the newspapers strewn on the floor, picked up the game pieces left on the table and put the telephone book back into the drawer. She watered the plants, emptied a wastebasket and hung up a towel to dry.

She emptied the kitchen bin, picked up the pile of discarded papers and junk mail and took it out to the trash bin.

She put the cordless phone back in its cradle, plumped up the sofa cushions, straightened a picture, wiped some dust from the coffee table and picked up some crumbs from the carpet under his chair.

She stopped by the kitchen and wrote out a shopping list for the next day, She signed a birthday card for a friend, addressed and stamped the envelope, then went round the house checking all the windows and doors.

He called out, "I thought you were going to bed."

"I'm on my way," she said and made her way upstairs.

She looked in on each of the rooms, hung up a shirt, threw some dirty socks in the hamper, and closed all the curtains.

In their bedroom, she set the alarm, laid out clothing for the next day, straightened up the shoe rack. She added three things to her list of things to do for tomorrow.

She then creamed her face, put on moisturizer, brushed and flossed her teeth and trimmed her nails.

About that time, he turned off the TV and announced to no one in particular "I'm going to bed,"

And he did."

An Apple a Day...

....keeps the Doctor away!  That’s what Mom always told me.  Well I’m no Doctor, but it’s a fact that apples are healthy.  I myself, sometimes (sometimes? who am I kidding?) find that I am pressed for time as to peeling, coring, and munching on the run.  Instead I have found a great way of getting that one-a-day-apple throwing in maybe a banana and other types of fruit in a fast, easy and delicious manner!  The answer?  Smoothies!  Yep, I just throw everything into my mixer...and a few seconds later...voila...a healthy great way to „drink“ your fruit.  I also found a website where you can find all sorts of recipes including healthy and green smoothies.  You might want to check it out by clicking here.

Thoughts on Happiness

Todd Burrier with thoughts on Happiness....
This is taken from Todd Burrier's Blog
Posted by  on Mar 6, 2012

A funny thing happens when we get what we want....after
a while, it doesn't seem to be enough anymore.

You know what I mean? We really want something, and then we get it, and we are happy about it for a little bit…maybe a few days or so….and then POOF the happiness fades and we want more or we want something else entirely. The lesson here, is that happiness has nothing to do with things or accomplishments.
You get the gift you want for Christmas and your all happy about it Christmas day, and a few days later, you forget all about it!
I can’t take credit for this blog idea. I came home from the gym this morning and Melanie was watching a video of Joyce Meyer as part of her morning devotion time. I heard about 20 seconds of this as I was getting my breakfast and then I heard Joyce Meyer say “If you aren’t happy when you don’t get what you want, you’ll never be happy when you get what you want.”......

Der 1. interessante Dienstag

Wow, jetzt haben wir Dienstag und ich hätte fast meinen eigenen ersten "interessanten Dienstag" verpasst...

Also dann mal los:

- Gabi!
